Once you have a license for a plugin, it will work on as many Live Rack and/or Apollo units you own.
If you buy two Live Rack units, get one Ultimate and one Core. All plugins that you own will work on both Live Rack and Apollo with exception of the few that are not compatible with Live Rack. Optional UAD plug‑ins can be individually evaluated without functional limitations for 14 days in demo mode, and can be purchased anytime at the UA store at you already own UAD plugins, they should work with Live Rack. UAD plug‑ins that are not included in the retail bundles are optional and purchased separately. Note that Direct Developer titles are not included. Ultimate Live 2 – The Ultimate Live 2 bundle includes 84 UA‑developed titles. The Core Live bundle includes 15 UAD plug‑in titles that were selected as a fundamental base set for live sound applications. Mic -> M32 preamp -> M32 MADI out -> Live Rack MADI in -> plugin(s) inserted -> Live Rack MADI out -> M32 MADI in -> DAW and live feeds So this is the routing path an audio stream would look like: Since you will send MADI audio from your M32, process it with UAD-2 plugins, and send it back to the M32 via MADI, the M32 will be the only audio interface. Also, unlike the Apollo, Live Rack is a UAD-2 effects host. Unlike Apollo's Console 2 app, the Live Rack app is specifically designed for live sound use. Also like Apollo, the Live Rack's on board DSP runs the UAD-2 plugins. And it has a stand alone application (the Live Rack app), that acts as a host for the plugins. Like Apollo, Live Rack has realtime UAD plugin processing (ultra low round trip latency). Each Live Rack has 4 on board UAD SHARC DSP chips. The Live Rack is a 16 channel live sound device which would connect to your M32 via MADI optical I/O. If you have the Klark Teknik DN-32 expansion card in your M32, a UAD-2 Live Rack (or better, two of them) would be an optimal solution.
Would it then work if I create an aggregated device with an Apollo and an m32 on a Mac and that would let me insert plugins on my m32 with low latency? And at that point the Apollo would just be the DSP? So an Apollo would be the best option for me. Yes, when I use the m32 as an interface it gives me 32 channels in the DAW, The only way to have latency-free, real-time use of UAD plug-ins is with an Apollo. The only way to use a Satellite for live tracking is with that Live Track mode Matt demonstrated in the video mentioned above, and it is not latency free. The plug-ins you would run on a Satellite only show up in your DAW for mix down after the tracks have been recorded using your interface.ĭoes the Midas m32 interface with your DAW such that each channel on the Midas will show up as a separate channel in a DAW? UA's Console software works with the Apollos, not with the Satellites.
